Picspam time! As I said the other day, my sister and I went a-wandering around Canary Wharf the other day. For those who don't know London that well - Canary Wharf is kind of the 'newest' area of London - it used to be the old Docklands area, which, as no big trade ships came down the Thames any more as the 20th Century progressed and pesky things like trains and planes and stuff starting being used for import and exports, was a rundown poor and rough area - and a few bits still are, BUT the central part of the docklands around Canary Wharf has been uttely regenerated since the 90s, and is now the financial district of London - well, sort of, as the financial district is also - and more traditionally - based over in the City/Square Mile. But big banks like Barclays, HSBC, Citibank all have huge centres here. It's lovely there now, or at least I think so, in an impressive, tall, shiny and corporate sort of a way, though it doesn't have the feel of lots of history like the rest of London does (though there are a few preserved old wharf buildings and such, and a Docklands museum I haven't investigated). The three tall buildings, in particular the tallest with its pyramidal top, are quite iconic though I don't have a very good photo of them in this spam, as I was too close to them, heh. It's set east of what most people consider 'Central London'. On a sunny day those three tall buildings are very pretty in the view from Tower Bridge. And there are also some photos of my Christmassy flat here because that's clearly just as interesting. ( Canary Wharf, cold days and Christmas, oh my! ) |

SPN fic; Sam/Dean (Smith/Wesson); How Many Floors to Realize Title: How Many Floors to Realize Pairing: Sam/Dean (Smith/Wesson) Rating: NC-17 Wordcount: ~26,700 A/N: Written for fluffyllama in the spn_j2_xmas 2009 exchange. Using the prompt "Smith and Wesson as hunters out on the road" - with a slight touch of crack, which I hope she doesn't mind. AU from the end of It's A Terrible Life, in which Zachariah decides to keep stringing them along a little while longer, because damn if they aren't somewhat entertaining, right? Huge thanks to rivers_bend for stepping up to do an awesome speedy beta-and-title job for me! Mwah! Part One Part TwoPart Three( How Many Floors to Realize ) Current Mood: nervous |

Holy crap, that's a lot of snow!!! It is coming down like crazy in lovely thick flakes! It's absolutely gooooorgeous and seems to be settling and could be quite thick, but I am kind of worried - I am travelling from London-->Leicester tomorrow, and I need the tube then a coach, so I hope the snow won't fuck any of that up. I wanna go home!! I love you London but I don't wanna be stuck here for Christmas. My spn_j2_xmas is nearly ready to go. I am not sure if I should wait a couple more hours until more of America is up and about, or if I should just say fuckit and post now. Maybe I shouldn't reveal I think that much about posting times. :P :P --clearly I needed a LOT of persuasion. |

My sister and I had a day off together today for the first time since late summer!! (I works weeks and she works weekends, which is lame.) So we went to walk around Canary Wharf, and it was a gorgeous day, clear and sunny and crisp; we took some lovely pics which I hope to make a picspam of later. We are home in our warm tinsel-and-fairy-lights-decorated flat and just finished watching the Strictly final, and there is a Christmas 'feast' in the oven (including STUFFING) and we have champagne to drink and Christmas music playing and crackers on the table. And I am FULL OF GOOD CHEER! *raises glass to flist* :D |

Meetup stuff
WHY did I decide to go wander around Covent Garden & Leicester Square today, scouting out a pub for the meetup, on the LAST SHOPPING WEEKEND OF THE YEAR BEFORE XMAS? OMG it was, uh, slightly busy. HAHA FAIL. BUT I found a nice O'Neills pub over three floors that looks like it will be perfect for a bunch of fangirls to commandeer an area of - I am going to phone them next week to confirm that I can reserve space so I won't post details until it's confirmed we can indeed use it. but yay! I have a headache of doom, now, though, I will blame late-December London crowds on it, bah. This is re: the SPN UK fan meetup that I posted about last weekend, if anyone wasn't around! Anyone who can make it to London on 9th Jane 2010 is totally welcome, just let us know on that post. I'll be organising the Secret Santa stuff tomorrow so last chance if you wanna be part of that! :P |

Masterlist updated and a little revamped! Jumps to sections for navigation, and listed things with newest at the top rather than the bottom (why did I have people being directed to the poorest writing first? :P). Also future-dated it. I was torn between worrying about it being obnoxious, sitting there at the front of one's journal like it's so important, and making it easier to find. SO I'm going with 'easier to find' now and seeing how I feel. Also realised holy crap that's a whole lotta fic I've written. I totted up wordcounts for shits and giggles and it comes to like nearly 450,000 words. OMFG. I know it's not a lot for, IDK, novelists or proper writers, BUT IT'S A LOT FOR ME. |

HEY flist, a little HTML help? How do I hyperlink within a page? Um, I mean - I'm revamping my masterlist and I want links to, say, Sam/Dean, Gen, J2, at the top, linking to the section of the page they're at. I know it can be done, I think it has to do with appending a #whatever to the address of the page, but I don't know how to place the marker in the page. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? and how to do this? THANKS :D |

I kinda want Sam to get drunk and karaoke "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Glee (yes I know it's not originally from Glee but that's where I know it from) ( link!), earnestly singing it right at Dean, while Dean slinks down in his chair and pretends he isn't totally pleased. So like everyone, I have those 10 LJ paid time coupon thingers. a) Not much of a ~*holiday gift*~ when it can only be used by people with free accounts and they have to pay for half of it anyway, and b) I see this very quickly ending up like Dreamwidth and Google Wave invites where everyone is graciously offering ten billion codes and no-one actually needs them anymore. BUT UM. All that bah humbug aside, anyone who wants half off a paid account for a year, holler and I'll send you a coupon. Uh, I do have Dreamwidth and Google Wave invites also, speaking of. XD XD Related to the recent LJ news post, who else is now gleefully digging into their LJ stats? I feel like I should make a complicated algorithm or something about page views and comments patterns and therefore the best time to post fic or something, but I ain't no good at maffs. |

OH MY GOD, it is cold. :( COLD. My sister and I aren't sure how to work the heating in our flat and thought in the interests of saving money we should probably try and get through winter without using it anyway and just wear lots of layers, which we did last winter we shared a flat two years ago. Which, okay, we are indeed wrapped up. BUT IT'S COLDDDDDD. My torso is fine, but my nose and hands are cold. Hm. Maybe this weekend I will invest in a plug-in electric heater if I feel I can't bear it. ANYWAY THIS POST IS NOT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE COLD IT IS TO REC A FIC!!!! The Winchester Identity by zuben_eschamali - Jared/Jensen; NC-17; one of the most exciting and seriously riveting action-packed fics I've ever read; J2 AU based on The Bourne Identity, though author says more on the books than the films and apparently it does become mostly its own story; with one hell of a tense, thrilling and fast paced plot. YOU WILL NOT STOP ONCE YOU START READING. Actually you might have to, to sleep and eat, as it is 136k. BUT. OMG. AMAZING. eta: PUPPEH IN CUPCAKE BATTER BOWL. Fanon!Jared is exploding in glee somewhere. DOGGIES AND SWEET BAKED GOODS?! |

SNOWWWWWW! *clap clap clap* YAY. It is big fluffy snowflakes but I doubt it will settle as the ground is pretty wet from the thin snow/sleet earlier, but I am excited. SNOWWWW! I just spent ages nostalgically reading through my posts from last year when it SNOWED LIKE CRAZY and settled everywhere and I picspammed London in the snow. |

I totally missed out on the holiday love meme stuff, I was kind of drowning in fic stress and now it seems insurmountable to go through it and too late to the party to put my name in, HAHA. Plus I always feel totally lame doing more than one of that style of meme in a certain amount of time (even though I don't judge anyone else for doing it, haha! We always have double standards - or maybe paranoia - about our own behaviour). But I do rather like you all. *hugs tight* Speaking of lovely flisters, I got cards recently from flawedamythyst, son_of_darkness and pkoceres. you guys get EXTRA HUGS. ♥ OKAY THIS POST HAS A PURPOSE. I feel like I should know, with the amount of times I have watched High School Musical, but anyone familiar with it know off the top of their heads how long the first film spans? It's not long, it's from the New Year through to final auditions, but when are those? Is it like - a month? Less? Two months? More? I mean, my J2!AU version isn't going to be OMG STRICTLY EXACTLY THE SAME but I do want to keep loosely to it, as a framework, so. Anyway. Anyone? Bueller? (I finally watched that film - Ferris Bueller's Day Off, not HSM - for the first time recently despite having known and even used that reference for years. XD) I am also torn on whether to keep other HSM characters (Ryan and Sharpay!!), or use CWRPS characters (sort of the done thing in CWRPS, plus, Chad as Chad!), a mix, or what, but I might officially poll on that later. When I actually get to the point where these characters are introduced. YES I AM RATHER IN THE EARLY STAGES, hahaha. I keep listening to Rachel's Sectionals ballad performance from Glee. AWESOMENESS. |

WHO HAS TWO THUMBS AND WROTE 7000 WORDS TODAY AND HER EYEBALLS ARE ABOUT TO FALL OUT OF HER HEAD BUT WHO HAS FINISHED HER spn_j2_xmas??? (first prebeta draft anyway sdlkhdslkgh.) GUESS. LSKDHKLDSG. Discovery of the day: regularly typoing 'Sam' as 'sma' is fine, but if you fix this by find/replacing 'sma' as 'Sam', you end up with gems scattered through your narrative like "Samshed" and "Samll" and my personal favorite, "Samrtass". *collapses into bed* Current Mood: exhausted |

UK SPN fandom meet-upHI, all UK SPN fans interested in coming along to the meetup fleshflutter and I are organising in January! After various polls and such it's finalised that the meetup will be held in London on Saturday 9th January. Not sure of the exact location yet as I need to decide on a pub (any Londoners with ideas about good central pubs/'Spoons where you can reserve a decent chunk of space, holler!), but we'll most likely be meeting between 11.30 and 12 noon at whichever tube station is nearest to whichever pub I decide on. :P details to come, of course! So we know who's planning on coming, please comment here and let us know! Real name (if you want; or just what you prefer to be called), if you'll be coming, and your mobile number (you can either edit the comment to delete it after posting, or PM it to one of us, if you understandably don't want it out in public). My mobile number is 07910178731 and you can use me as your contact if you get lost or arrive later and need to know where we are or whatever. Absolutely anyone is welcome - you don't need to have met anyone before or even have spoken to anyone or whatever. :D :D we don't bite!! Caveats: there will be frank and explicit and most likely loud discussion of incest, RPS, and pornography (certainly MY idea of a good time :D); also spoilers of all aired eps (BUT NONE OF NON-AIRED EPS PLS!!!) ALSO in your comment, please let me know if you want to be part of the ~*SECRET SANTA*~!!! If you DO, please give a quick idea of what kind of things you do or actively don't like, just to give your gifter a little idea of what to get you. Gifts will be a maximum of £10. For example, I want to be in on the Secret Santa, and I like mugs, necklaces, SPN-related stuff, amusing things, pink, sparkly stuff, though I'd be happy to receive pretty much anything; but I don't like earrings (ears aren't pierced!) or other jewellery or toiletries as presents. You don't have to take part in the SS, but if you DO please make sure you do actually come so we don't end up with anyone giftless. :D YAY YAY YAY EXCITED. |

GOOD: spn_j2_xmas is plodding along quite well, nearly 15,000 words, the rest of it is outlined, I'm feeling better about it, and I think if I work steadily it should be completed by - the end of next week? Maybe sooner? BAD: j2_everafter drafts are due in Jan 10th. OH MY GOD. D: I haven't even started, and I am DETERMINED not to drop out but it has to be a completed - or at least substantial enough to look pretty damn completed - draft by the 10th, and I claimed High School Musical and REALLY want (wanted? :( ) to do a good long fic for it, to do it justice. OH MY GOD D: the 10th. THE 10TH. *claws at self in horror* |
